A message on behalf of Céleste Pilon, co-president of the Research in Infection, Immunity & Global Health Trainee (RI2GHT) committee.

Dear trainees of the IDIGH program,

I hope you are doing well and are taking advantage of the summer to rest and recharge. As for every year, we are reassembling the Research in Infection, Immunity & Global Health Trainee (RI2GHT) committee - the official trainee committee for the IDIGH program. This year, we plan to continue the RI2GHT committee as an integral component to the IDIGH program structure and a valued aspect of community life.

The current positions are available for this upcoming year:

  • Co-president (1 position) – responsible with overseeing the committee and organizing the IDIGH student research day.
  • Administrator (1 position) – keeping minutes at meetings, organizing RI2GHT committee meetings.
  • VP External (3 positions) – contacting vendors to fund the research day (and/or aid in the development of the Student Research Day)
  • VP Social (3 positions) – responsible for planning and executing social events.
  • WIP Organizer (2 positions) – responsible for organizing the Wednesday Work in Progress (WIP) Seminars (recruit speakers, advertise and moderate the WIP seminars).
  • CORE Representative (1 position) – student will represent the student committee at RI meetings.
  • RI-MUHC Representative (1 position) – student will represent the student committee at RI meetings.
  • Volunteers/General members – responsible to aid in research day development and executing social events.

As you may understand, this year will again be uncertain, and the role of some positions may vary throughout the year according to health and safety guidelines. Nevertheless, I am sure that we will adapt smoothly and create great things together, such as last May’s successful virtual 5th Annual Student Research Day.

If you are interested in being part of the RI2GHT committee for the upcoming year (starting Sept 2021), please let me know (as soon as possible), either in person or by replying to this email. You do not need to express your interest for any particular positions, simply to join the committee. As always, we encourage diversity and representation and would love to have members from various laboratories and backgrounds.

Hoping to hear back from you soon!
