JOB TITLE: Data Analyst
RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a doctoral or postdoctoral trainee to help conduct the mixed methods analysis for the Lost & Found study, a type-II implementation-effectiveness hybrid study. The selected candidate will make use of results from quantitative and qualitative analyses, both of which have been completed or are nearing completion. Some knowledge of implementation science is an asset.

GENERAL DUTIES:
- Provide general guidance on mixed-methods analyses to the research team
- Work with the research coordinator to mix qualitative and quantitative data from the Lost & Found study
- Create a summary of the methods used and pertinent results in conjunction with the research team
REQUIREMENTS:
- Doctoral or postdoctoral trainee in public health, epidemiology, or a related field
- Experience conducting mixed-methods analyses
- Good English writing skills
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Status: Temporary, Part-time
Pay Scale: salary will be commensurate with education and experience

POSITION SUMMARY:
Dr. Joyce Rauch is looking for a motivated person to fill the position of a full-time laboratory technician for a period of 12 months with the possibility of renewal. Under the direction of the principal investigator, the laboratory technician will participate in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments, and oversee certain administrative tasks in the laboratory.
The major research project (funded by CIHR) in Dr. Rauch’s laboratory involves the investigation of programmed cell death in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), with a focus on delineating the mechanistic pathways responsible for the development of SLE. Dr. Rauch’s laboratory has developed a murine model of SLE that enables the investigation of immune mechanisms responsible for the initiation and development of this disease. This murine model also provides an ideal means of evaluating new therapeutics targeting the B and T cell response in SLE. Dr. Rauch’s laboratory is responsible for biobanking biospecimens from SLE patients and is involved in a number of collaborative clinical research studies.

GENERAL DUTIES:
Lead and participate in research projects
Assist members of the lab with their research projects
Provide training to new recruits
Maintain laboratory stocks, reagents, and cell lines
Prepare and biobank weekly patient blood samples

Knowledge of and experience with immunology, molecular biology, and biochemistry techniques, including enzyme immunoassays, flow cytometry, cellular assays, Western blot analysis, and molecular biological methods (e.g., PCR).
REQUIREMENTS:
DEC in biological sciences (B.Sc. preferred); Experience in conducting laboratory research;
Experience in working with mice and murine tissues;
Experience in working with cell lines and tissue culture;
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism;
Excellent interpersonal and personal communication skills;
Ability to work both independently and within a team;
Excellent organizational skills;
Ability to work under minimal supervision;
Oral and written comprehension in English (mainly English-speaking work environment).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Status: Full-time
Pay Scale: from $19.67 to $23.55 per hour (35-hour workweek), according to the RI MUHC salary scale depending on qualifications and experience
Work Shift: from 8 or 9 a.m. to 4 or 5 p.m., Mondays to Fridays

Post-doctoral research fellow position at McGill University
Pulmonary and HIV immunity
A post-doc research position is available at the department of Medicine, McGill University to work on a collaborative research project on the pulmonary immunity during HIV infection. The CIHR-funded project is part of the Canadian HIV Cure Enterprise (CanCURE) and aims to assess the immunological mechanisms involved in HIV persistence within the lungs of HIV-infected individuals. The candidate will be co-supervised by Dr Cecilia Costiniuk, Assistant Professor in Infectious Diseases at McGill (principal supervisor) and Dr Mohammad-Ali Jenabian Assistant Professor in Immunology and holder of a Canada research chair at UQAM (co-supervisor).
Qualifications :
- PhD degree in immunology, virology, molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field.
- Strong interest in working with human specimens and HIV.
- Laboratory experience in primary cell culture, molecular biology, flow cytometry and immunology.
- Significant scientific contributions and excellent communication skills are required.
